TPE 6: Developing As A Professional Educator  

TPE 6.2: ​Recognize their own values and implicit and explicit biases, the ways in which these values and biases affect teaching and learning, and work to mitigate any negative impact on the teaching and learning of students. Exhibit positive dispositions of caring, support, acceptance, and fairness toward all students and families, as well as toward their colleagues.

In my teaching practice, I reflect on my own values and potential biases to ensure they do not impact the way I teach or interact with students. I strive to create a safe and inclusive classroom environment where every student feels respected and valued. I am intentional about selecting materials and designing activities that reflect a variety of cultures, identities, and experiences. This aligns with TPE 6.2 because I recognize the importance of equitable teaching and the role I play in fostering fairness, empathy, and support in my classroom and school community.

TPE 6.1: ​Reflect on their own teaching practice and level of subject matter and pedagogical knowledge to plan and implement instruction that can improve student learning. 

My Philosophy of Teaching aligns with TPE 6.1 because it reflects my commitment to being a reflective and intentional educator. In my philosophy, I emphasize the importance of knowing my content deeply, understanding how students learn, and adapting my teaching practices to meet their needs. I believe that teaching is a continuous learning process, and I am committed to growing through feedback, collaboration, and reflection in order to improve student outcomes.

My Christian faith informs my values of compassion, fairness, humility, and service. When I reflect on my beliefs they do influence my approach to students and my commitment to equity, I am demonstrating self-awareness and a desire to create a supportive learning environment for all students.

TPE 6.5: ​Demonstrate how and when to involve other adults and to communicate effectively with peers and colleagues, families, and members of the larger school community to support teacher and student learning

This TPE focuses on collaboration and communication—knowing when and how to engage with others (like colleagues, families, specialists, or community members) to support student success and your own growth as an educator.
